Farragut State Park
Farragut State Park is located on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille and was originally established during world war II as a submarine training base. The size and depth of the lake made it an ideal location for training. However the navy wasn't prepared for the weather and many a sailor suffered from the extreme conditions. Eventually the land was donated to the State of Idaho for a state park and it is a wonderful park. Checkout the recreational opportunities.

Boating
Whether you want to fish, water ski or sail this lake has room for all of it. And the park has a nice boat launch to provide access.
Swimming
Beaver Bay is beautiful and provides a great spot to swim or sunbath.
Hiking
I love hiking and Farragut State Park has plenty of opportunities to satisfy me. We have provided information on 3 of the hikes we went on.
Recreation
Recreational activities include disc golf, swimming, boating, fishing, RC planes, horseshoes, hiking and Silverwood Theme Park is nearby.
Wildlife
We saw whitetail deer, squirrels and several species of birds. There could be mountain goats across the lake on the cliffs and black bear in the woods about.
