Campsites
There are eight RV / tent camping sites. Each has a picnic table and fire ring. Seven are in a normal group, while number eight is across a meadow from the picnic area and has its own entrance from the highway. These sites are not designed for large RVs.
Water
Wild Goose Campground has its own pressurized water system with excellent water.
Restroom
Nice vault style outhouse; it was clean and even smelled pleasant!
Pets
On a leash only.
Handicap Access
Yes
RV Dump Site
No.
Phone Service
There is no pay phone here, however, one is located at Lowell, Idaho, just a couple miles up river. We had no cell reception.
Garbage Services
Yes.
Fishing
Fishing is in the Clearwater River for salmon, steelhead, trout and to a lesser degree other warm water fish.
Boating
There is no boating, but the beach could certainly be used for your group's raft exit point. However, I believe most of that is done further upstream.
Recreation
Wild Goose is a good place to stop if you are traveling from Lewiston, Idaho, and points to the west up the Lochsa River over Lolo Pass or on into Montana. The river will certainly draw your attention during fishing seasons. It has a very nice beach.
Wildlife
There are deer and bear living in these woods, so use caution with your food and garbage.
Fee Schedule
The cost per day is $8.00 and only $2.00 for your extra vehicle.
Reservations
These sites are not reservable. They are available on a first come first served basis.

Wild Goose Campground is located on the north bank of the West Fork of the Clearwater River in the Clearwater National Forest. As you can see in our pictures, the area is heavily wooded. The elevation is only 1500 feet which means the summers can be quite warm here. Highway 12 is a nice paved state highway, but the campground road and driveways are gravel. We found this to be a pleasant campground but it lacked privacy. Be sure to watch out for poison ivy!
