In the Salmon River, Slate Creek and several other creeks in the area offer fishing. Check the regulations through our link on our Fishing Page.

The Salmon River is a swift river and I would not recommend swimming in this area. Floating or rafting would probably be okay.
Recreation
Fishing the Salmon River is the primary activity here. There are trails going either to the north or to the south that are not very far from Whiskey Flats Campground. The White Cloud Mountains are to the south. Take Slate Creek Road which is about a mile west of the campground, then hike south into the mountains.
Wildlife
Deer are common here. I did not see any bear warnings here which is good! Wolves could travel through this area.

Whiskey Flats Campground is on the north bank of the Salmon River between Stanley and Challis, Idaho. The mountain to the north is sagebrush covered while the hills to the south across the river are forested. The campground is along the river and has a few large cottonwood trees which provide shade on a couple of the nicer sites. The grass was green and had been trimmed or mowed. The summer days could be very hot here.
