Upper Luby Bay Campground

Luby Bay Campground is divided into two sections, Upper Luby Bay Campground and Lower Luby Bay Campground. They are situated on the west shore of Priest Lake and are heavily wooded with mature trees. Upper Luby Bay Campground is across the road and uphill from Luby Bay campground and Priest Lake. It is beautifully wooded and a lovely place to camp. The roadways are paved, but the driveways are gravel at Upper Luby Bay, giving it a little more rustic atmosphere than Lower Luby Bay.

Amenities

Campsites

The camping sites are large with a little room between them which gives a camper more privacy. Sites are from number 26 through 58. Each have a picnic table and a fire ring. These sites could be used by RVs or tents.

Water

There is good, clean, pressurized water located throughout the campground.

Restroom

The restrooms have flushing toilets and have a sink. No showers.

Firewood

$7.00 from the camp host.

Pets

On a leash only.

Picnic Area

The picnic area is in Lower Luby Bay Campground. There is not one in the Upper Luby Bay campground.

Handicap Access

This campground is handicap accessible.

RV Dump Site

Yes, Upper Luby Bay has an RV dumping station.

Host On-Site

Yes, both Upper and Lower have separate hosts.

Phone Service

Although there is no pay phone at the campground, we had reception on our ATT cell phones.

Garbage Services

Yes, in "bearwise" cans.

Recreation

Fishing

Fishing is available in Priest Lake, Priest River and many streams in the area. Check our fishing regulations link.

Boating

This campground is not on the lake, however, the Idaho Fish and Game ramp is located about one mile down the road.

Swimming

Is available at the beach in Lower Luby Bay. Please refer to my picture in my Luby Bay review.

Recreation

The main attraction is Priest Lake, whether you swim, fish, boat, or just want to sunbathe. There is also hiking in the surrounding mountains.

Wildlife

There are deer in the area and one could easily wander through camp. This is bear country so take precautions with your food and garbage.

$18.00 per night with $8.00 per extra vehicle and $7.00 for firewood from the camp host.

Getting There

From Priest River, Idaho, travel 28.6 miles north on Hwy 57, turning right onto Luby Bay Rd for another 1.4 miles. Turn left onto W. Lakeshore Rd for another .7 miles. The campground will be on the right side of the road. GoogleMaps.
