Turner Flat Campground
Turner Flat Campground, like the other campgrounds in this area, is situated along the St Joe River on a small flat. The area is heavily forested and offers shade and privacy in most campsites.

Amenities

Campsites
There are 11 RV / tent campsites. Each is equipped with the standard picnic table and fire ring. Campsites 1 & 2 are intended to accommodate the horseman, having feed bunks and more room. Site 2 is very open and sunny. The driveways are also very long. The road and driveways are gravel.
Water
There is a hand pump equipped well for camp water. The well is tested monthly for bacteria and is safe, but I don't drink the water from these wells.
Restroom
There is a vault style outhouse for your use and it was fairly clean and well stocked at the time of our visit.

Recreation

Fishing
Fishing is available in the St Joe River. Check the regulation and seasons here.
Boating
There are rapids scattered along this stretch of the river and we saw people floating, rafting and kayaking here.
Swimming
The river is a bit shallow at the campground but I am sure one could find a better spot to swim nearby.
Recreation
Camping, fishing and playing in the river are the main recreational activities here. However, there is also backpacking, hiking and the Trail of the Hiawatha is not too far away for a days bike ride. Check out this company offering package deals. It is one of several.
Wildlife
We didn't see any wildlife but one could expect deer, elk, black bear and grizzly bear to live in these mountains. There were no bear warnings at Tin Can Flat Campground.

Fees & Reservations

Fee Schedule
The daily fee is $6.
Reservations
This is a first come first served facility, no reservations available. At least half the sites were still occupied at about 3pm on Sunday afternoon so I would recommend arriving early for the weekend to secure a campsite.
