Reeder Bay Campground

Reeder Bay Campground is located on the west shore of Priest Lake. It is in a mature forest with undergrowth, giving each campsite a little more privacy than most other campgrounds. The roads are paved and the driveways are gravel. It was a very rainy day when we visited so the pictures look a little gloomy. I like this campground best of the five campgrounds we reviewed on this trip. However, you might not agree as the toilets are vault style outhouses rather than the flushing toilets in the other campgrounds. I thought the lake access was better than the others. Without a picnic area, there should be less traffic. The gates are locked from 10 pm to 6 am. Attractions: The main attraction is the lake whether you swim, fish, boat, or just want to sun bathe. There is also hiking in the surrounding mountains.

Campsites

There are 24 RV campsites in Reeder Bay Campground. 10 are on a first come, first serve basis. If you want to get one of these, you will need to be there no later than Thursday. The other sites, 14 to 24, are on the lake and are reservable. Each camping site has a picnic table and fire ring and can be used by either an RV or tent camper.

Water

There is water located at several locations throughout the campground. It is pressurized and tastes good.

RV Dump Site

There is an RV dumping station at Upper Luby Bay Campground but not one at Reeder Bay. I didn't check to see if there was one at Ledgewood.

Phone Service

No pay phone but our ATT cell phones had reception.

Garbage disposal is available in "bearwise" cans throughout the campground.

Fishing

Fishing is available in Priest Lake, Priest River, and many streams in the area. Check our fishing regulations link.

Boating

There are no boating facilities at Reeder Bay. However, there is a public boat ramp and docks at Ledgewood Picnic area just up the road.

Recreation

The main attraction is the lake whether you swim, fish, boat, or just want to sun bathe. There is also hiking in the surrounding mountains.

Wildlife

There are deer in the area and one could easily be seen wandering through camp. This is bear country so take precautions with your food and garbage. The deer in our picture was having lunch on a bush. It must have been a good bush!

Getting There

From Priest River, Idaho, travel north on Hwy 57 for 36.4 miles. Turn right on Reeder Bay Rd. The campground is 2.6 miles down Reeder Bay Rd.
