Campsites
O'Hara Campground has 32 tent / RV camping sites. About one third of them are along the river. Each has a picnic table and fire pit with grill. We stayed in one of the river sites, with forest so thick the table seemed to be in a room of its own. We really enjoyed our visit here.
Water
O'Hara Campground has a chlorinated pressurized water system. There are fountains spaced throughout the campground and the water was pretty good.
Restroom
They have older vault style outhouses made of fiberglass. The handrails were rusted and the floors flexed as I walked in them but they were clean and well stocked.
Firewood
Firewood was available from the camp host.
Pets
Pets allowed on a leash only.
Handicap Access
Yes.
RV Dump Site
According to Google, there is a dumping station at the boat facilities at 502 Lowery St. Kooskia if you are traveling west. I know there is a dumping station at Wilderness Gateway Campground on Hwy 12 if you are traveling east. Also see comment below.
Host On-Site
There is a camp host, but we did not meet them.
Phone Service
No cell reception on our ATT phones and the nearest pay phone is at Lowell, Idaho, which is 7 miles northwest on Selway Road.
Garbage Services
Garbage service is available in bear resistant dumpsters.
Fishing
Fishing is available on the Selway River. Check the regulations here. There is also Fenn Pond by the ranger station just down stream. It is a family fishing water and is listed in the regulations. We stopped to fish, and it took me about 45 minutes to catch the 6 fish limit for supper! Your kids might enjoy a little fishing here.
Recreation
There are no boating facilities or swimming area at O'Hara Campground, but the river was full of people floating or rafting. One campsite looked more like a water sports shop with all the wet suits hanging out to dry than it did a campsite.
Wildlife
There are warnings for rattlesnakes and bears. Watch where you step and use caution with your food and garbage. I know there are deer in the area and we saw elk higher up.
Fee Schedule
Double sites are $20.00, singles $10.00 and $3.00 for your extra vehicle per day. A maximum of 7 people per single site.
Reservations
You may reserve your site at recreation.gov. We found several sites available during the week, but it was a very wet June. I would recommend you reserve your site.
