Horsethief Reservoir Campgrounds

Campsites

A map showing the names of each of the six loops in Horsethief Reservoir Campground.
I have added the names of the campground loops to this map to help you find your way around the campground. The campsite numbers start in Trout Landing then progress in a counter clockwise direction around the lake. So Trout Landing followed by Osprey Bay, Easters Cove, Timber Cove, King's Point and finally Bear Knob. There is some confusion in King's Point and Bear Knob. The new handicap site in King's Point have the highest numbers. The name Horsethief Creek is being discontinued.

Horsethief Creek and Trout Landing are being combine into one loop named Trout Landing. I found the most appealling campsites in this area.

Campsite 2 is a bit small but has great access to the cove where Horsethief Creek enters Horsethief Reservoir.

Just across the road from campsite 2 is this nice little fishing access point. There is another even better point by campsite 3.

This is campsite number 3. Keep in mind as you go through these that I don't take pictures of every campsite. Some are occupied and it's just to much work to do every campsite.

Campsite 12 is likely my favorite. I didn't camp here because we didn't know what Horsethief Creek looked like when we pick our campsite. I like it because it is shaded, level and next to the lake.

Campsite 13 is part of what could be a group if you got there early enough to find them empty.

Osprey Bay is being remodeled starting July 7, 2020 and will be closed for the season as I understand it.

At this intersection take the left most road.
At this intersection take the left most road. When you enter you will find campsites 51 and 52 first then 35, etc. after the sign. I am wondering if the site numbers will change after the remodel.
This is the entrance to Osprey Bay loop. It splits from the main road at the same point as the entrance to Easters Cove loop.

Easter Cove loop is being remoddeled as I write this so it will look different by the time you get the chance to camp here.

Kings Point loop has recently been remodeled. It has paved roads and driveways. Checkout the pictures. Many of the campsites have very little shade but I saw quite a number of new trees had been planted.
