⚠ Notice: For a YouTube Video.
Below you will find my original comments on Garfield Bay. There have been serious customer complaints however the county contacted me a while back to say they were making changes and they have done some work in the campground. Sites were reworked and a new host was found. It appeared to have changed for the better. If you have any comments about the campground from this last year please share them. I have added some pictures which were taken in 2017. "Garfield Bay Campground is interesting in that the picnic facilities along Lake Pend Oreille are wonderful and well maintained. However, the campground above the road, Garfield Bay Campground, shows signs of neglect. We came in the middle of June so perhaps it hadn't had much attention yet, but it appeared to be unused. I'm not sure why this would be the case because it is in such a nice setting. The driveways are rough and not maintained."

Amenities

Campsites
There are 28 camping sites in the campground. Sites are spacious and private with a picnic table and fire pit in each. The tables are far from the pull-ins in some of the sites.
Water
Yes, and it tastes fine.
Restroom
Vault style outhouse at the campground. There are flushing toilets at the picnic area but they appeared to be in need of service during our visit.
Firewood
Bring your own.
Pets
Pets must be on a leash at all times.
Picnic Area
There is a beautiful picnic area across the road from the entrance to the campground. It has picnic tables and barbeque grills scattered about. The beach and public boat ramp are also in this park. It looks like a great place to play.
Handicap Access
The picnic area is, and the restrooms are.
RV Dump Site
I saw no RV Dumping station in the Garfield area.
Phone Service
We had no cell reception on our ATT phones. However, there are phones in town.
Garbage Services
Yes.

Recreation

Fishing
Yes, fishing
Boating
The picnic area has a large marina which is the major attraction of the town. There is a large parking area for your boats and trailers.
Swimming
Yes, there is a swimming area at the picnic area with no lifeguard on duty.
Recreation
People come here to enjoy the lake, primarily for boating and fishing.
Wildlife
I am sure there are deer in the campground regularly. Keep in mind this is bear country so keep your food and garbage locked up. With a lake nearby, there will be birds like the Osprey to be watched. It is a spectacular scene watching an Osprey catch a fish.
