Deer Creek Campground

Deer Creek Campground is not what one would expect by looking at a map. Our map showed Wolftone Campground, Bridge Campground and Deer Creek Picnic Area. However, what we found was a series of 12 to 15 mostly primitive campsites scattered over about 6 miles along Deer Creek, with Deer Creek Picnic Area as the last site. There are 3 or 4 sites at the "Picnic Area", each having a picnic table and fire ring. This campground seems to be a popular place, and the campsites here are trimmed and maintained. Campsite 5 is right on the creek set among the willows and has only a fire ring. Check out our pictures. The southern exposed hills are mostly sagebrush covered while any shaded slopes are fully forested. The mountains are steep enough but are not the granite peaks of the Sawtooth Mountains to the north or the Pioneer Mountains to the east.
