Deadwood Campground
Deadwood Campground is located at the confluence of the Deadwood River and the South Fork of the Payette River. We were there in July and it was hot and dry. The forest is mature but thin, offering only partial shade. There is no privacy as the canyon is narrow. With two rivers and a road, there is limited space for a campground. On the other hand, there are two rivers to fish or float and a major trail to hike, Deadwood Trail. It is a popular hike starting at Deadwood Reservoir. The hikers are dropped off at the reservoir and travel down the trail while their driver travels back to Deadwood Campground to camp and wait for the hikers. I estimate it is a 20 mile hike or so.

No reservations. This is a first come, first served campground. As of March 29, 2025, I couldn't find the amount of the fee. I'm not sure what's going on with the forest service, but many campgrounds do not have their fees listed on the website.
