Copper Creek Campground

Copper Creek Campground is on the Moyie River just off Hwy 95 and less than one mile from the Canadian border. It is situated in a mature pine forest that appears to have been thinned years ago. New young trees are mixed with the older trees. The roadways and driveways are paved and in very good condition. The campground is on flat land on the north shore of the Moyie River, which was very high when we were there in June. Copper Creek has a horseshoe pit for your family enjoyment.

There are 15 RV camping sites, tents ok, with long paved driveways and room for your group to roam. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring.

The water is good by way of a pressurized water system.

Yes, vault style outhouses. They were clean and well maintained.

Phone Service

There is no pay phone at the campground and we had no cell reception. I would expect there to be phone service available at Eastport just .5 miles to the north on Hwy 95.

Garbage Services

No garbage service available in the campground as of June 2010.

Recreation

Fishing

The Moyie River runs past the campground and there are benches for those who want to relax and watch. Also, it is a short drive to Robinson Lake.

Boating

I saw no opportunity for boating from Copper Creek Campground. Now if you want to camp here and fish the river, then sneak over to Robinson Lake for a little fishing from your boat.

Recreation

Fishing in the Moyie River is certainly one of the main reasons to choose this campground. Copper Creek Falls is also nearby. We didn't realize what an attraction this was while we were there or we would have made the effort to explore. Unfortunately, we did not get pictures of Copper Creek Falls. There is a mile long interpretive trail at the falls which is about two miles past the campground on NF Rd 2517.

Wildlife

Deer, moose, and bear inhabit this area. Be cautious with your food and garbage.

The fee here is only $6.00 per day. I wish Southwest Idahoans were so lucky! As of May 2017 the forest service website didn't indicate how much the daily fee was, only that there is one.

Getting There

Travel north from Bonners Ferry 30.3 miles on Hwy 95 to NF road 2517 on the right and drive 1.2 miles to Copper Creek Campground.
