Campsites
The campsites are number 101 through 138. The state website calls these sites tent camping sites. The road and driveways are gravel and dirt. Most driveways are no more than 14 feet in length. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. These sites are small and closely placed.
Water
There is a pressurized water system available in a couple locations.
Restroom
The "outhouses" in Chatcolet Campground actually have flushing toilets.
Electricity
No.
Firewood
Firewood is available for $5 per bundle
Pets
Pets are allowed in Chatcolet Campground but must kept on a 6 foot leash or in your camper.
Picnic Area
There are 2 picnic areas in Heyburn State Park. Check out Rocky Point Day Use Area and Plummer Point Day Use Area.
Handicap Access
I would not call any part of Chatcolet Campground handicap accessible.
Host On-Site
There is a host on site. They are located in a site near the entrance.
Nearest Shower
There are showers at Hawleys Landing Campground.
Nearest Laundry
I found the Riverbend Laundry in St Maries, Idaho.
Phone Service
We had service on our ATT phones in the campground.
Garbage Services
There is garbage service available.
Fishing
Fishing is available in Chatcolet Lake, check the regulations here.
Boating
There is no room to park a boat in Chatcolet Campground, however there is a boat launch at Chatcolet Trailhead just below the campground and it has plenty of parking space.
Swimming
There is no designated swimming area near Chatcolet, but Rocky Point Day Use Area is only a short drive away.
Recreation
There is a field in the campground where one could set up a volleyball net but the main form of recreation here is biking The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, or boating from the boat launch located just below the campground. There is a large, grassy play area with playground equipment there also.
Wildlife
Deer and black bear are common in this area. Use caution when storing your food and disposing of your garbage to avoid attracting bear. We saw no notice of bear problems.
Fee Schedule
As of April 2017 they are all single standard sites and the daily fee is $19 plus tax. Keep in mind there is a $5 fee to bring your auto into the state park per day.
Reservations
All these campsites can be reserved at reserveamerica.com. You will want to reserve you site as the campground fills up most every weekend.

Chatcolet Campground is part of Heyburn State Park. It is set on a hill above Chatcolet Trailhead and Chatcolet Lake. The area is covered with a mature forest including undergrowth. I was not thrilled with this campground. It was VERY crowded (each weekend), and dry and dusty in mid-July. The campsites are only a few feet apart with no privacy. This is only my opinion. To be fair, I have read several comments on line from people who stayed here and greatly enjoyed it. So if you enjoy tent camping and want to spend a day riding the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, this might be the spot for you.
