Caribou Campground
Caribou Campground is located by the North Fork of the Big Wood River in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area on the southern edge of the Boulder Mountains. Check this Google map. The campground itself is okay, and the country on up the road is wild and beautiful. It is a place I would like to explore further one day. The forest service website doesn't recommend RVs or trailers as there is little to no space to turn around once you have entered.

Recreation

Fishing
There is North Fork of the Big Wood River and several other forks and small streams in the nearby mountains for a little trout fishing. The Amber Lakes are to the northwest among the mountain peaks. Looks like a fishing trip to them could be fun but they are at an elevation of 9360 feet, so be prepared.
Boating
No.
Swimming
No, wading yes.
Recreation
Camping, fishing, photography, sight seeing and hunting are but a few recreational activities available to the camper at or near Murdock Campground. The surrounding mountain trails lead to high lakes and majestic vistas and offer access for the hikers, backpackers, and mountain bikers as well as for those folks with horses.
Wildlife
This is wild country so one could see most any big game animal near Murdock Campground. Deer, squirrels, many bird species would be common, while fox, coyote, wolves, elk and black bear live here but are harder to find.
