Boyd Creek Campground
Boyd Creek Campground is situated almost 11 miles up the Selway River from the little town of Lowell, Idaho. The Selway River Valley cuts through 6000 foot mountains and is only about 1600 feet in elevation at Boyd Creek. The campground is low and offers hot summer days with cool nights. The mountains are heavily forested and offer many trails for the outdoors man to enjoy. We were here in late June and the high country was not yet open for travel.

Amenities

Campsites
There are only 6 tent / RV camping sites. Two are on a hill above the Selway River on the downstream side of Boyd Creek, while the other 4 are next to the river on the upstream side of Boyd Creek. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. The road and driveways are gravel. I liked sites 1 and 2 best, but the outhouse was down with the other 4. Sites 3 to 6 were in a circle and would be good for a group, but offered little privacy if you were not in a group.
Water
There is no potable water available in Boyd Creek Campground. It is available at O'Hara Campground.
Restroom
There is an older vault style outhouse available for your use which is clean and well stocked. It is located on the upstream portion of the campground and would be somewhat of a walk from sites 1 and 2.
Electricity
No.
Firewood
You will need to provide your own firewood, or you could drive down to O'Hara Campground and buy some from the camp host.
Pets
Pets are allowed but on a leash.
Picnic Area
No.
Handicap Access
The outhouse is handicap accessible while the campground would not be very handicap friendly.
RV Dump Site
I know there is an RV dumping station at Wilderness Gateway Campground on the Lochsa River.
Host On-Site
No host, but if you need help there is one at O'Hara Campground which is only a short drive downstream and across the Selway River.
Phone Service
There is a pay phone at Lowell, Idaho, and I think there is a pay phone at the Fenn Ranger Station which is just across the road from Fenn Pond.
Garbage Services
No garbage service available here.

Recreation

Fishing
The Selway River offers some fine salmon, steelhead and trout fishing. Fenn Pond is a "Family Fishing Water".
Boating
Floating the Selway River is popular and though we didn't see anyone fishing from a drift boat, I am sure many people do. There is no river access facilities from Boyd Creek Campground.
Swimming
There is no specific swimming area. Swim in the river at your own risk.
Recreation
Fishing for trout, steelhead and salmon in the Selway River is the primary recreation here. However, hiking, backing, floating the river, hunting and photography are also very popular activities.
Wildlife
Deer, moose, bear, elk, wolves, squirrels, birds and many animals inhabit the forest and streams nearby. Do watch for rattlesnakes.
