Campsites
There are 15 newly remodeled sites which offer water and electricity and part of them have sewer also. These campsites have paved roads and driveways with new picnic tables and firepits with attached grates. Campsites 216 through 239 are small and are equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. These campsites are very, very small and some are very close to each other. The road and driveways for them are dirt.
Water
There is pressurized water at the new sites and it is available for campers at the older part.
Restroom
The restroom and shower facilities were brand new at the time of our visit. See the pictures on the Restrooms Showers page.
Electricity
All of the new sites have 50 amp service available.
Firewood
Firewood is available from the camp host. The fee in 2013 was $5 per bundle, it's probably more now.
Pets
Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash.
Picnic Area
There is a picnic area which you pass on your way to the campground.
Handicap Access
The new part of the campground is very handicap accessible including the restrooms and showers.
RV Dump Site
There is an RV dump station near the Heyburn State Park visitors center.

Boating
There is a boat launch and dock in Benewah Campground.
Swimming
We saw a dock on the point in the older part of the campground and there were a few kids swimming from it. Also Rocky Point Day Area has a great beach and is only a short drive away.
Recreation
At the campground the main recreation is just camping, of course, fishing in the lake is popular and there is a boat launch if you want to get out on the lake. We also noticed kids swimming and playing on the dock in the older part of the campground. We saw one trail to hike on. If you are willing to travel a bit, Rocky Point Day Use Area has a great beach, There are trails in the main section of the Park not far from the Parks Visitors Infomation Center. Also the Trail of the Coeur dA'lene goes through the park and one can make arrangements to spend a day biking the trail.
Wildlife
Deer, moose and black bear are common in this area.

Benewah Campground is part of Heyburn State Park. It is located on Benewah Lake on the east end of the park. The campground is located on rolling hills on the shore of Benewah Lake. There are 15 newly remodeled campsites and 20 plus small older campsites. The older sites are on the lake shore and there is a dock for fishing or swimming. The mature forest has a fair bit of undergrowth mixed in. I saw a trail to hike along the lake and there is a boat launch for your use.
