Atlatl Campground is set among bright red Aztec sandstone outcroppings in the Valley of Fire State Park. There are 44 campsites offering easy access to the scenic and historic features of the park.

Amenities

Campsites
Atlatl Campground has 44 campsites, all roads and driveways are gravel. Each comes with a covered picnic table, fire ring and barbecue grill except 20, 21 and 22 which are walk-in sites for tent campers only. The fee for these campsites was $20.00 per day. Sites 23 through 44 offer water and electrical hookups but cost $10 more.

The restrooms have flushing toilets and lavs.

Yes, in campsites 23 through 44.
Firewood
I saw firewood available for purchase at the Visitor Center. They charged $7 per bundle in 2020.

Yes but must be on a leash.
Picnic Area
There are serveral picnic areas in the park but not in Atlatl Campground.
Handicap Access
Campsite 6 is handicap equipped as well as the restrooms.
RV Dump Site
Yes, the RV dump station is located on the road between the two campgrounds.
Nearest Shower
The restrooms have showers.
Phone Service
Cell service is spotty most likely at the east or west entrance or in the White Dome area.
Garbage Services
Yes, in locations scattered about the campground.

Hiking
There are numerous trails to hike. Such as the trail to Mouse's Tank at 3/4 mile round trip or the White Dome loop at 1.25 miles. Longer trails exist, stop in at the Visitor's Center for a brochure and map.

Wildlife
We saw one desert sheep near the east entrance to the park. There are birds and lizards as well as rabbits, coyotes and other wildlife nearby but most are noctural.
